Who we are

Dr. Jennie Dear is a freelance writer in Durango, Colorado. Her 2019 book What Does It Feel Like to Die? earned a Publishers Weekly starred review.  

Her article for theatlantic.com builds on her earlier piece about the intersection of science and understanding life's end. She's worked as both a print and a radio reporter.  As a professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango, she taught news, writing and literature.

 

Dr. Faron Scott is a professor of Journalism & Media Studies at Fort Lewis College. She teaches journalism, media theory, media law and ethics, and she's an advisor for The Independent/IndyOnline, FLC's student news organization.

 

Miki Harder, the book's illustrator, is also a painter and a 3D artist. Her works have been on display at numerous businesses and galleries, including Illuminarts and the Karyn Gabaldon Fine Arts gallery, both in Durango, William and Joseph in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Birds in Art exhibition in Wausau, Wisconsin. She illustrated the book Bears Don't Ski by Tiffany Mapel.
